A Social Tweet To Sushma Swaraj Helped In Cerebral Palsy Treatment

We are happy to share the news that the work of the Trishla Foundation has been once again covered by various news channels and newspapers across India. A simple social media tweet to our honorable minister helped a Ghana, West African family get cerebral palsy treatment at the Trishla Foundation

The parents of four and a half-year-old Ghana girl, Osei Larbi Abena Aniwaa, came for treatment at Trishla Foundation. The girl is suffering from quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy and is not able to sit, crawl, walk, or speak since birth. The family arrived in New Delhi on January 4 and approached Trishla Foundation in Allahabad for the girl’s cerebral palsy treatment. Dr. Jitendra Kumar Jain diagnosed that the girl is severely disabled and needs cerebral palsy surgery and intensive therapy for at least five months. Ghana family came to India on their tourist visa which will expire on February 2nd, 2017. Unfortunately, the family could obtain a visa for a month only whereas cerebral palsy treatment takes at least 6 months to recover from the current situation. Our consultant at Trishla Foundation instructed them to get a medical visa and sought help from our Minister Sushma Swaraj to get the existing visa extended The girl’s father sought help from Sushma Swaraj via tweet. The minister Sushma Swaraj replied positively and extended their visa for 6 months as per the advice of Dr. Jitendra Kumar Jain at Trishla Foundation.

This news has been covered across India on various news channels newspapers and social media. During the last few days, we have been getting hundreds of calls congratulating us on the victory of a poor Ghana family. It would not be out of place to mention that the Trishla Foundation every year gets lots of patients from overseas for cerebral palsy treatment. Usually, these patients come from countries Ghana, West Africa, the USA, the UK, Bangladesh, Nepal, UAE, and all corners of India. Apart from this many international families are still waiting for approval of their medical visas for visiting Trishla Foundation for cerebral palsy treatment. So, we appeal to the government to provide a quick and easy way for these poor families to get medical visas for cerebral palsy treatment in India.
